Andrea Davis
Andrea Davis (Resident Playwright) is a New York flower with Southern roots. She moved to Manhattan in 2003 to attend Union Theological Seminary, and currently is in her final semester. She plans to receive her Masters of Divinity in May of 2006. Her academic interest is in the intersection of race, sexuality, and Christianity, especially with regards to Black Christian culture. Andrea enjoys writing in every form. In 2006, Andrea's first play, A Love Like Damien's was staged at WOW Cafe Theatre and HERE Arts Center.

In Steal Away, Romi is a young Black woman who lives in the Underground, a community founded by runaway enslaved peoples. But after she comes out, Romi confronts this society's sexism, homophobia, and stubborn sense of liberation.
C. Sala Hewitt is an emerging production director who released her first
short film titled Good Lookin' Out in Spring 2007. Theatrical credits
include What It Iz! The Spokenwordical (spin-off of The Wiz) by Blackout
Arts Collective; the groundbreaking sci-fi, hip hop-inspired play
Descendents of Freedom, a by Andre Lancaster (BRIC Studio, Here Theater);
Lagrimas de Cocodrilo/Crocodile Tears (Nuyorican) by powerful
artist/activist Ingrid Rivera; and PSNBC's 2001 Fringe Pick of the Year E to
Jamaica Center (P.S. 122), by Justin Earl Turner. Sala is also a poet who
has studied under the tutelage of writers such as Cheryl Clarke and Willie
Perdomo. In addition to creating a collaborative spoken word stage
production titled Mystic of Fly (Here Theater) with four other dynamic women
poet/performers, Sala helped conceive and host an on-going open mic forum
for queer people of color in NYC.
C. Sala Hewitt is a creative and strategic communications consultant, and
artistic director to independent performance and theater artists in NYC.
Trained in strategic consumer communications planning at a blue-chip ad
agency, she has continued to provide communication, outreach, and
development services to nonprofits and creative entities including Astraea
Foundation, Audre Lorde Project, House of Passion, and Chica Luna
Productions among others.
Hewitt received her BA with honors from Smith College. There she acted in a
multi-cultural theater troupe, Dark Moon, a creative family with which she
continues to collaborate.
